Two arrested after human trafficking warrants in Derby

Alert message sent 29/01/2019 08:50:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking offences after we executed warrants at addresses in Derby.

We carried out the warrants at houses in Belgrave Street and Stonehill Road this morning.

A 37-year-old man and a woman aged 34 were arrested at the Stonehill Road property and remain in police custody.

Support is also being provided to people who we believe to be victims of human trafficking and labour exploitation.

The warrants were part of an operation led by our recently formed Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit, which is focused on dismantling organised groups who traffic people into Derbyshire for exploitation, and providing specialist support to victims.
