Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

A man and woman have been charged with human trafficking and labour exploitation offences after we executed warrants early yesterday morning.

The warrants were carried out at houses in Belgrave Street and Stone Hill Road and were led by our recently formed Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Unit.

Two people were arrested at the Stone Hill Road address and have now been charged.

Martina Barsova, 34, of Stone Hill Road, was charged with arranging or facilitating the travel of a person with a view to exploitation, and holding a person in slavery or servitude.

Jano Sarisky, 37, also of Stone Hill Road, was charged with the same offences. He was also charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

They were remanded in custody and due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court today.

Specialist support is being provided to a woman in connection with the investigation.
