Reopening of shops

Alert message sent 15/06/2020 19:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

From today, the change in regulations means that more shops across our area can now open.

We want you to remind you that if you’re out and about or plan on heading to the shops yourself, you may see more people in the streets and more vehicles on the roads.

You may notice changes to our pavements and road structures, this is to enable social distancing as people pass each other without placing them in danger, so please be aware that the roads you have previously driven down may have a different shape to them, or be closed off, and car parks may be fuller, so please give yourself extra travelling time.

If it is your first time driving in a while, make sure to check your car over before you set off, ensuring that it is in a good condition and take your journey steady – being out of practice is something to be mindful of.

Shops and businesses have been issued guidance to allow them to operate whilst maintaining social distancing, however if you see instances of this guidance not being followed you can make the Health and Safety Executive aware by reporting it at

If you believe a business, included licensed premises, are open illegally opening or prices/profiteering contact Trading Standards via Consumer Advice Citizens Services (CACS) at

As always, if there is a severe incident due to either of these issues then report this to us normally via our non-emergency channels such as our website, social media channels or 101, and call 999 in emergencies.
