Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Hi Andrew please se below latest update from Neil re CSW.

In anticipation of this and the relaxation of the Government rules I had a meeting last week with the Ops Support Ch. Insp., the Roads Policing Insp and the Head of CREST Darren Roberts. Their collective view is it’s too early to start up CSW.

The main issue is the 2m social distancing rules, these of course apply equally to the CSW group and the public passing by. I’m sure you can imagine that there’ll be plenty of disgruntled drivers and pedestrians looking for photo opportunities of the groups breaching these rules.

We can’t have a situation where pedestrians are either forced to cross the road or breach the rules. I know that some groups are able to use sites with very wide footpaths or verges but many are not.

I was tasked with contacting our neighbouring forces to establish their stance. They take the same view I’m afraid. I will keep up the pressure this end but unfortunately this is not my ultimate decision to make.

I’d be very grateful if you could pass this message on to your groups and volunteers. I will be keeping up the pressure this end and let you know as soon as this situation changes.
