Rogue tradesmen and door to door sales

Alert message sent 17/07/2020 18:18:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Although most people selling products or offering services are genuine, some are not always who they may seem or claim to be.

Recently, there has been an increase in reports of people attempting to sell products and/or services door to door in the Heanor, Shipley and Langley Mill areas. Although several might be genuine and are nothing to worry about, some criminals often use a false alibi to sell improper goods or offer scam services, which may lead to financial loss or may cause you or your loved ones un-necessary distress.

If you are not sure that the person selling the product or offering a service is genuine, we encourage you to check for identification and credibility before accepting anything further. Also if you believe anything to be suspicious or have any concerns regarding rogue tradesmen/merchants we ask you to please report this to us on 101 or on 999 if it is an emergency.
