Man suffers serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Whitwell

An investigation has been launched after a man was struck by a vehicle in Whitwell, leaving him with serious injuries.

The incident, which involved a silver Mitsubishi Outlander, happened at around 3pm on Thursday 16 July on High Street, near to the Boot and Shoe public house.

A 38 year old man suffered serious injuries, including several broken bones, and remains in hospital.

The vehicle was left behind following the collision, and the offenders have fled the scene on foot, leaving items including a mountain bike, alloy wheels and a compressor inside the vehicle.

Officers are now appealing to the public for help to trace the offenders and the property left behind.
