School Run Swallowhouse Lane

Alert message sent 07/10/2020 14:10:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Local Police Officers have been monitoring Swallowhouse lane during the School run times. This is following reports of careless and inconsiderate driving and two near misses involving children. PCSO Tracy Jones and PCSO Alan Nield have patrolled the area on various days, at drop off and pick up times, talking to parents, drivers, local residents, crossing patrol and the school. School Head, Mr Papadopoulos asked for Police attendance following the first incident.
The narrow lane, with parked vehicles and current works at the waterworks give very restricted access to the school. We would ask parents to only take children to school in their car, if they really have to. We would ask all road users to allow plenty of time and to park safely, legally and considerately.
We would also ask pedestrians to use the pavements, footpaths and the school crossing, not to walk in the road, or cross between parked vehicles and be aware of moving vehicles.
