Alert message sent 08/10/2020 18:34:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

A Community Speed Watch Event was held by the Hadfield Team today at Platt Street, Padfield between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm.

Concerns about speeding and the volume of traffic had been raised and discussed by members of the community, resulting in the event being held there at that time. The time had been identified by the community as it being worst time for speeding vehicles in the village.

The speed limit at this location is 20 mph. A total of 111 vehicles went by the team during the hour the event took place.

Of those a total 9 vehicles were recorded driving at a speed of 25 mph and above. The drivers, registered keepers of those vehicles will now receive a letter of advice on this occasion.

Another well done and big thank you to our 2 volunteers today, who were ably assisted by Padfield HPBC Councillor Mr Ollie Cross.

Remember Speed Watch is a community-based, education-centred scheme that helps ordinary people make a significant contribution to improving the safety of our roads.

Stats show that more than 90% of speeding offenders do not reoffend within the next 12 months after receiving the first letter.
