Man gets suspended sentence for vehicle crimes in Derby

A man received a suspended prison sentence for a series of vehicle related crimes around the Littleover and Normanton area.

Robert Watson (34), of Walbrook Road, Derby pleaded guilty to four counts of thefts from vehicles and one count of stealing a Ford Focus.

The offences took place in July and August this year on Foremark Avenue, Kings Drive and Wheeldon Avenue.

He pleaded guilty to taking items including a driving licence, sunglasses, a Sat Nav, a credit card, and change, as well as the keys to another car which he also stole.

For each count Watson was handed an eight week prison sentence, to be served concurrently, and suspended for 18 months. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

The hearing took place at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Tuesday 6 October.
