Police and firefighters respond to concern for safety call

Alert message sent 20/12/2020 20:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

Residents living in Matlock Bath will see police and firefighters in the town this evening as we respond to a call from a walker who was concerned for someone’s safety.

We were called to the River Derwent, near the Pavilion, at 6pm this evening after a walker saw a young woman he felt was acting suspiciously near the water.

The caller then lost sight of the woman and, fearful for her safety, called emergency services.
Officers have been out checking the river area and we contacted our colleagues at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service for their support.

We take calls like this seriously and will conduct a thorough search.
