Vehicle seized- no insurance

Alert message sent 05/01/2021 15:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

First shift of the new year last night; working on information received earlier that day of several vehicles involved in dealing drugs around Sinfin we spent a cold evening observing 3 target vehicles. One of them, thinking we had gone, decided to drive uninsured and under the influence away from us. We followed.

He was polite enough to wait at the red lights on Goodsmoor bridge to allow more officers to make their way to the area, including a dog unit!

The car came to a stop at some garages off Nicola Gardens and the occupant decamped and ran on foot- foolishly leaving behind his drugs and alcohol!

Vehicle has been seized for no insurance and it is very unlikely to be reclaimed. Further enquiries are being completed around the driver and the other vehicles potentially involved.

Information from the community, whether through Facebook messenger, 101, or crimestoppers is invaluable to us and let's us know what it is affecting streets, neighbourhoods and communities as a whole. This is a good example as from some brief, detailed information we have taken the first of many uninsured, and potentially dangerous vehicles off your streets,as well as opening up further enquiries to tackle drug dealing and supplying that tends to affect the most vulnerable.
